Build Your Book: Prepare for Any Audition
We’ve all seen the auditions notices: 1 contemporary monologue and 1 classical monologue. 1 comedic, 1 dramatic. A 32-bar cut uptempo. A 16-bar ballad. An uptempo pop song in the spirit of the show.
With a Build Your Book consultation session, you’ll have the opportunity to review your audition materials and get professional insight on what types of pieces you can add to it to build a wide-ranging audition book. We’ll discuss the types of characters you can be looking for, places to find audition-worthy pieces and how to prepare any monologue or song to fit any of the required audition combinations listed above.

Eddie Powers is a graduate of Columbia University’s M.F.A. Acting program and a working actor and teacher in NYC. They are also a graduate from University at Buffalo with a B.F.A. in Music Theatre and a B.A. in History. Born and raised in a small town in Upstate NY, they have had the pleasure of studying and performing theatre around the world over the past 15 years (UK, France, South Africa, Edinburgh etc.), which has ignited their passion for making, teaching, and performing theatre and music.
Justin Michael Cooke is a Minneapolis-based creative collaborator and financial specialist. He received his BA in Musical Theater Performance and Arts Administration (emphasizing in non-profit arts administration) from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and his MFA in Acting from Columbia University. He also holds an Accounting Fundamentals Specialist Certificate from Louisiana State University. Justin has worked professionally in creative spaces across Minneapolis, Denver, New York City and the UK, and he is passionate about helping fellow creatives set themselves up for their self-defined success.
Tiffany Small is an Atlanta transplant by way of NYC working as a professional actor and professor at Kennesaw State University. Throughout her career Tiffany has worked in many different major markets including Atlanta, Chicago, and New York City. Some of her most cherished opportunities were with Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Classic Stage Company, New York Theatre Workshop, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and quite literally everything she has done with Squeaky Wheelz Productions. Tiffany has been working professionally for over a decade and is eager to share her knowledge and experiences with those eager to begin the next part of their professional careers.
Luke Hofmaier has booked FBI: Most Wanted, the holiday movie Spoiler Alert, several theater productions, and has received many callbacks, from his self-tapes. His work at Chester Theater Company earned him a nomination for the Berkshire Theater Critics’ Best Actor Award. Luke is a graduate from Columbia University’s MFA Acting Program. NY credits include: Classic Stage Company, the Signature Theatre, 59E59, and Metropolitan Playhouse. Regional credits include: Berkshire Theatre Group, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and Chester Theater Company. BFA – Adelphi University.
